Attor­ney Marie P. Grady helped lead the largest daily news­pa­per in West­ern Mass­a­chu­setts to a record num­ber of awards before tak­ing up study of the law and lead­ing lit­er­acy efforts in Ham­p­den County. A 2010 grad­u­ate of West­ern New Eng­land Col­lege School of Law, the for­mer man­ag­ing edi­tor of The Repub­li­can interned with a Mass­a­chu­setts Supreme Judi­cial Court judge and won aca­d­e­mic hon­ors in crim­i­nal adju­di­ca­tion, immi­gra­tion and medi­a­tion. She is licensed to prac­tice law in Mass­a­chu­setts and Con­necti­cut and is also a notary pub­lic, grant writer and cer­ti­fied medi­a­tor. As a jour­nal­ist who cov­ers Con­necti­cut legal issues, she does not appear before Con­necti­cut state courts or directly rep­re­sent clients in lit­i­ga­tion there in order to avoid poten­tial news cov­er­age con­flicts. A gen­eral prac­ti­tioner, she does not spe­cial­ize in any one area of the law.
